RELAXING NERVES AT THE DENTIST

WHAT IS SEDATION DENTISTRY?

Sedation dentistry is a great option for individuals who have a fear of the dentist and will be undergoing a bigger procedure in our office such as extractions, root canals, and oral surgeries.

In most cases, oral conscious sedation involves taking a medication for anxiety, usually in a pill form, and is taken approximately 30 minutes to one hour before your procedure. You will be drowsy; however, you will still be able to respond to instructions and communicate with our lead dentist, Dr. Natalie Diangani.

The effects of oral sedation can last anywhere from 4-6 hours after your procedure is over. It is essential that a responsible adult is able to drive you to and from your appointment and be present to assist you for the rest of the day.

Whether your treatment plan suggests going with Nitrous Oxide (also known as laughing gas) or oral conscious sedation, they are both designed to reduce stress and anxiety when undergoing a dental procedure.

WHO NEEDS SEDATION DENTISTRY?
